The Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG) is pleased to invite you to the Presidential Election Peace Pact 2020 Ceremony.

Date:   Friday, 4th December, 2020

Venue: The Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel

Time:   10am to 12noon

The Presidential Election Peace Pact 2020 Ceremony will be convened under the auspices of His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam, in collaboration with the National Peace Council and the National House of Chiefs, under the theme,

“ERADICATING ELECTORAL VIOLENCE IN GHANA’S DEMOCRACY: THE ROLE OF POLITICAL LEADERSHIP”

IDEG is facilitating this event with support from The Royal Netherlands Embassy; DANIDA; and The Star Ghana Foundation.

The ceremony will be a replication of the Election 2012 Peace Pact held at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, under the auspices of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Election 2016 Peace Pact, held at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra under the auspices of Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former President of Liberia.

The Presidential Election Peace Pact 2020 Ceremony will build upon the successes of the 2012 and 2016 events to provide a platform for the presidential candidates of the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress to demonstrate to the general public their commitment to national peace, and their readiness to stand against election-related violence, impunity and injustice.

Please note that this event is strictly by invitation. The event will however be broadcast live to enable wide viewership.

We entreat you to arrive 30 minutes before the start of the event to allow for requisite COVID-19 protocols to be observed.
